COCOONS

My inspiration for this work was the transformation that happens within a cocoon. I observe and detail the importance of the organisms that reside in there to feel protected and to possess an intimate space that nurtures and shelters; spaces that collaborate in giving origin to a transformation, a metamorphosis (“meta”, change and “morph”, shape). At the moment when the insect emerges from the cocoon, the evolution has taken place, bringing along new forms that captivate my curiosity and intrigue.

Cocoons consist of 33 pieces, made in three different stages; each piece has been worked by hand with clay mixed with paper and natural fibers, allowing a natural surface finish.
